How do I apply for a place on a course at the Centre?
Contact the Centre for Stress Management an application form which should
be completed, signed and returned to the Centre with the
appropriate course fee. The application form can also
be downloaded from the website.

Do I need previous qualifications to attend a course?
Level 1 courses/modules are introductory and previous
experience of the topic covered is not expected. These
courses are usually unsuitable for experienced practitioners.
Although Level 2 courses/modules are not basic, previous
knowledge of the topic concerned is not a prerequisite.
Level 3 courses/modules are advanced courses for which a
previous level of knowledge and appropriate experience are
expected.
Who are the courses suitable for/what sort of people attend them?
The courses are suitable for trainers, counsellors, psychologists,
personnel staff, coaches, management consultants, psychotherapists,
trainers, health and caring professionals who wish to learn more
about the particular topics and we have students from all these
areas. See our brochure for further details.
Who recognises/accredits the courses?
The Centre's courses are recognised by a variety of professional
bodies. As the training at the centre can be applied to management,
health education, counseling and psychotherapy as well as
complementary medicine we have sought the recognition from
professional bodies in these spheres of work. As our courses
are normally completed part-time within twelve months we have
not applied for recognition form professional bodies that require
a longer duration of study. The International Stress Management Association (UK)
recognise successful completion of our Diploma in Stress Management
programme as providing eligibility for professional membership.
The Association for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy
and British National Register of Advanced Hypnotherapists recognise our
courses for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Further information is available on this website.
The cognitive behavioural and rational emotive
behaviourar therapy programmes can be used towards the
hours required for BABCP accreditation as a CBT therapist and the hours
required for AREBT accreditation as a REBT therapist. A number of
the courses that are run in association with the Centre for Coaching are
university accredited.

What Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) qualifications
do you offer?
The Centre is a RSPH registered Centre and is approved to offer a range
of their courses in nutrition and health, health and safety,
understanding health improvement and healthier diets. We can run these
accredited programmes in-house for organisations. We run these course in
association with the UK Centre for Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
What sort of qualification do I get after attending courses at the Centre?
Certificates of attendance are issued to students who complete a
primary certificate course for the purposes of continuing professional
development. A Primary Certificate is awarded to students who attend
a course and successfully complete a three hour written assignment
undertaken at home. A Certificate is awarded to students who
successfully complete two or three courses and assignments as detailed in the
brochure. Students can progress to an Advanced Certificate or Diploma
- please see the brochure for further details.

Does the Centre give discounts of any sort?
We have two course fees: one is payable by organizations (Org), the
other is the fee for students who are self-funding (Ind). Details
of course fees can be found on our website and on the list of course dates.
Can I reserve a place on a course by paying a deposit?
We do not take deposits. Course fees must be paid in advance by students
who are self-funding. Organisations will be invoiced for the course fee.
How far in advance of the course must I pay?
Six weeks prior to the proposed course date or with application.
How do I apply for advanced cert/diploma?
Request an enrolment form from our general office.
Can I transfer an application & payment to a different course?
Transfers can be made up to six weeks prior to the course date if a
place is available. See our application form for cancellation charges.

Clarendon House is located in Borehamwood High Street and
is about 5 minutes walk or a quick taxi drive away from Borehamwood
Station. It is only minutes from the A1, very close to the M25, less
than 20 minutes out of St.Pancras International, London, by train and
less than half-hour on the train from London Luton airport. There
is public car-parking behind the training centre.
There are also a number of reasonably priced hotels
nearby within walking distance or a short drive including Ibis Hotel,
Travel Lodge, Premier Inn and Village Hotel. There is also the Days Inn
close by at South Mimms by the motorway. There are numerous eateries
within Borehamwood.

Borehamwood railway station South is within 5 mins walk from Clarendon
House.
Which is the nearest airport?
Luton Airport is only 30 mins trip in the train to Borehamwood. London City Airport,
Gatwick or Heathrow are further afield.
Can you recommend a hotel/bed & breakfast near the Centre?
We send a course pack to students approximately four weeks prior to the
course which includes a list of accommodation addresses.
Yes. A number of courses are run in central London at the British
Psychological Society offices and also at The Scots Club in Edinburgh,
Scotland.

What letters can I put after my name when I have attended course(s)?
Certificate in Stress Management - CertSM.

At what stage should I apply for advanced cert/diploma?
Students are advised to attend at one primary certificate module
before applying to enrol on an advanced certificate or diploma programme. See brochure for

How soon or at what stage can I start practising after attending courses/am
I qualified to start practising after I have attended the courses (or a course)?
This depends upon previous experience and qualifications.
Who will insure me against cancellation/non-attendance?
Contact your insurance broker for advice.
Does the Centre provide counselling/therapy/coaching?
Yes. Our Centre in Blackheath, London provides this service. However, however please check with Dawn Cope or Peter Ruddell for
availability.
Can the Centre provide articles or suggest reading material?
See our website for details. We can obtain certain books for students
who are already enrolled on a programme at the Centre.
How do I keep up-to-date with what's going on at

I'm keen to work at the Centre. What should I do?
As an established international centre, we receive
emails and letters from people wanting to work at our Centre on a weekly
basis. Please note that it is unlikely that we will consider CVs/resumes
that are sent to us unless we have approached you first.
