BRITISH PSYCHOLOGICAL SOCIETY LEARNING CENTRE
APPROVED COURSES
The Centre for Stress Management, counselling, stress
management, cognitive behavioural therapy, rational emotive behavioural
therapy and multimodal therapy short and extended training programmes
are now approved by the British Psychological Society Learning Centre
for the purposes of continuing professional development (CPD).
Professor Stephen Palmer, Director of the Centre said:
" We are very pleased to receive BPS Learning Centre approval for
our stress management and therapy-related training programmes. We look
forward to working with the BPS Learning Centre when we develop our new
courses."
HEALTH COACHING WORKSHOP IN EDINBURGH, 4th AUGUST
2009
Professor Stephen Palmer will be running a half-day
health coaching workshop at The Scots Club in Edinburgh on the 4th
August 2009. More information.

LONDON REGION TRAINING EVENTS TO BE HELD IN
BOREHAMWOOD
The Centre for Coaching and its affiliated centres
will be running the majority of their London region training courses and events in
Borehamwood from 28th April, 2009.

Clarendon House is located in Borehamwood High Street
and is under 5 minutes walk away from Borehamwood Station. It is only
minutes from the A1, very close to the M25, less than 20 minutes out of
St.Pancras International, London, and less than half-hour on the train
from London Luton airport. There is public car-parking behind the
training centre.
Professor Palmer said: "The large majority of our
training delegates come from all over the UK. Quick links by rail, road,
train and air are essential. Relocating our training venue has many
advantages and also provides over five local hotels where delegates can
stay. Our Administration offices, coaching and counselling services
return to Blackheath."

CENTRE DIRECTOR RECEIVES AWARD
In December 2008, at the 1st European Coaching
Psychology Conference, Professor Stephen Palmer received from the BPS
Special Group in Coaching Psychology the 'Lifetime Achievement Award in
Recognition of Distinguished contribution to coaching psychology'.
PROFESSOR STEPHEN PALMER TO GIVE A KEYNOTE SPEECH
AT THE 1st EUROPEAN COACHING PSYCHOLOGY CONFERENCE
Professor Stephen Palmer PhD will be giving a keynote paper on
coaching psychology at the 1st European Coaching Psychology Conference
on 17th December, 2008, in London, UK.
ROYAL SOCIETY FOR PUBLIC HEALTH REGISTERED CENTRE
In autumn 2008 the Centre became a RSPH registered
Centre and is now approved to offer a range of their courses in
nutrition and health, health and safety, understanding health
improvement and healthier diets. These courses can run these accredited
programmes in-house for organisations. The Centre for Stress Management
will run these course in association with the UK Centre for Health,
Safety & Wellbeing.
NEW CBT, REBT & MEDIATION PROGRAMMES
In February 2008 the Centre for Stress for Stress
Management launched two new modular 5-day courses: Certificate in
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the Certificate in Rational Emotive
Behaviour Therapy. Both consist of an introductory 2-day primary
certificate course plus an more advanced 3-day module. The Course
Co-Directors are Prof Stephen Palmer and Michael Neenan.
Liz Doggart has developed our new 2-day Primary
Certificate in Mediation Skills course. This course will provide an
insight into mediation with an opportunity to learn relevant skills.
PROFESSOR STEPHEN PALMER TO SPEAK AT THE NATIONAL
IOSH 2007 CONFERENCE
Professor Stephen Palmer PhD CMIOSH will be giving a
paper on Stress, performance, resilience and well-being: The ‘Fit’
vs ‘Unfit’ Manager at the Institution of Occupational Safety
& Health National Conference to be held at the International Centre,
Telford, on 27 March, 2007.
His paper will include: A simple model of stress based
on the HSE management standards, illustrating the link between the
hazards, the employee and the negative outcomes. The psychologically ‘Fit’
vs ‘Unfit’ Manager: A research based concept (see Jenkins &
Palmer, 2004). Cognitive model of stress, performance, resilience and
well-being Using coaching and training to prevent stress. And how can
the health and safety practitioner address stress exacerbated by the
employee?
Professor Palmer said, 'This conference brings
together the many different aspects health and safety. My paper
considers the stress interface between the organisation and the employee
and how relevant coaching and training may help to prevent or reduce
stress'.
