NEW CBT, REBT & MEDIATION PROGRAMMES

In February 2008 the Centre for Stress for Stress Management launched two new modular 5-day courses: Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the Certificate in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy. Both consist of an introductory 2-day primary certificate course plus an more advanced 3-day module. The Course Co-Directors are Prof Stephen Palmer and Michael Neenan.

Liz Doggart has developed our new 2-day Primary Certificate in Mediation Skills course. This course will provide an insight into mediation with an opportunity to learn relevant skills.

PROFESSOR STEPHEN PALMER TO SPEAK AT THE NATIONAL IOSH 2007 CONFERENCE

Professor Stephen Palmer PhD CMIOSH will be giving a paper on Stress, performance, resilience and well-being: The ‘Fit’ vs ‘Unfit’ Manager at the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health National Conference to be held at the International Centre, Telford, on 27 March, 2007. 

His paper will include: A simple model of stress based on the HSE management standards, illustrating the link between the hazards, the employee and the negative outcomes. The psychologically ‘Fit’ vs ‘Unfit’ Manager: A research based concept (see Jenkins & Palmer, 2004). Cognitive model of stress, performance, resilience and well-being Using coaching and training to prevent stress. And how can the health and safety practitioner address stress exacerbated by the employee?

Professor Palmer said, 'This conference brings together the many different aspects health and safety. My paper considers the stress interface between the organisation and the employee and how relevant coaching and training may help to prevent or reduce stress'.

OCTOBER 22nd 2004: THE DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRE, PROFESSOR STEPHEN PALMER GAVE A KEYNOTE PAPER ON STRESS & PERFORMANCE AT THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR COACHING, BREAKING THROUGH. 

DURING JULY & AUGUST 2004 PROFESSOR STEPHEN PALMER, DISCUSSED THE PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGY OF STRESS IN HIS BBC 1 TELEVISION SERIES THE STRESS TEST. AND DEMONSTRATED STRESS MANAGEMENT & HEALTH COACHING.
